On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, I welcome you to our website.
This is an exciting time to be a computer scientist on PEI, with an influx of technology companies providing a wealth of training opportunities for students and good jobs for graduates. Computer science has always been an excellent career choice, with demand from employers outstripping the supply of qualified graduates – and now on PEI the shortage of highly-skilled workers has become acute. UPEI is seeking to meet this challenge, offering a top-rate friendly learning experience with a personal touch. We offer very small class sizes, individual attention and a faculty that is eager to work with you to maximize your potential. We offer a co-operative education option that allows you to gain work experience (and money) while you attend school or, if you are more research oriented, an honours option that will prepare you to go on to graduate school. Students from our department have an excellent record of placement at the country’s top graduate schools, including University of Toronto, Waterloo, British Columbia and McGill (among others). Whether you are interested in a career in industry or academia, our department offers a program second to none in the region.
We invite you to learn more about our department and our activities through this website. If you don’t find answers to your questions or would like to talk to someone, please feel free to contact me or our administrative support person, Michelle McKearney. We look forward to hearing from you.
Dr. David LeBlanc, Chair
